Seals of Nguyen Dynasty Exhibition opens in Hanoi
On 12/10/2011, exhibition ” Seal of Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945″ was held in Hanoi to provide background seal system which used in administrative documents from central to local levels through the Nguyen Dynasty from Gia Long (1802 – 1819) to Bao Dai (1902-1945).
90 version of the Nguyen Dynasty as the “official dispatches” like petitions of the king…which were sent to 13 Nguyen Dynasty kings with some writing and markers in red ink by the Kings.
According to Ha Van Hue, Director of National Conservation Center I, the exhibition provides information for researchers and the public about the seals of the Nguyen Dynasty.
The Emperor’s seal showed significant changes in the reign of King Thieu Tri, the word “religion” was changed from meaning “religious minority” to mean ” honor “and a change in size. 76 markers of the central agencies and the military show from 6 basic departments (Lai, Ho, Le, Binh, Hinh, Cong) in the first time, at the end of the Nguyen dynasty had the emergence of new departments such as Ministry of Finance, Economics, Ceremony, Justice (the Bao Dai).
At the seal gallery of the local agency, if the administrative reform, the territory divided into 30 provinces of King Minh Mang which changed the seal level, district offices in the Asian and ethnic minority, the seals of the Chief Minister and Management in King Dong Khanh were casted by the script or the French word next to the traditional texts that form at this stage there are profound changes in historical, cultural and social life …
Under the Nguyen Dynasty, many seals were made, but by war, natural disaster, fire or other artifacts that they were lost, leaving only some versions that are stored, preserved at the National Archives Center to continue to study and promote the value. Expected in the near future, the agency will held an exhibition and publication to show the cross-cultural Vietnam – France in the late 19th century – early 20th century.
