Day 1: Hanoi - Ky Son (L, D)
At 8 am your tour guide will pick you up at the lobby of the hotel and transfer you to Moon Garden Homestay you will arrive at Moon Garden Homestay in Ky Son village and have a welcome drink of local, fresh green tea. You'll have free time for discovering Moon Garden and Ky Son village by yourself and you can have a cooking class and enjoy what you have prepared.
Activities in the afternoon include visiting the spa and leisure biking. Then, you will have free time for relaxing or further conversation with the host family about local snacks, their culture and traditional customs. If you want to learn Vietnamese, one of the family members can teach you some basics to get you started!
You can take a bicycle ride to discover the Ky Son, Tam Son, Van Minh, and Cham farming communities and stop at any home you like for a cup of tea. You may also visit the kindergarten (if open). You can help with plowing or making rice beds, transplanting seedlings, harvesting rice (or cassava, corn, sweet potatoes, depending on the harvest season) collecting tea and all the medicinal herbs needed for your steam bath later in the afternoon and the foot spa in the late evening.
You'll return to Moon Garden for happy hour (you will be offered some kind of local tisane). While waiting for your steam bath to be prepared, you can enjoy local drinks and taste some of the local products.
After a traditional, refreshing steam bath with fragrant herbs (lemon grass, pomelo leaves, holy basil leaves) you will have dinner at your leisure. You will observe the evening worship, and enjoy your foot bath in warm water with ginger, salt and mugwort medicinal herbs before bedtime, which brings you to a deep sleep at the end of an enriching day.
Day 2: Ky Son - Hanoi (B, L)
In the morning you will pray to Buddha or mediate in the form Yijinjing traditional exercises with the help of the host. The host prepares breakfast for you and you then participate in burning votive money and gold for the dead, which is a traditional ritual here.
You then have time for coffee or tea and making yourself at home, relaxing on the hammock in the garden, taking pictures with Vietnamese traditional clothes, chatting with people, or further discovering Ky Son village and the surrounding area.
You will bid farewell to your host after lunch, and you will drive to the 400 year old Duong Lam Village. You will discover daily life activities on the Red River Delta, interact with local people and feel the real atmosphere of the region. After that, you will go back to the car for a drive to the ancient village of Duong Lam, which still has many preserved houses, some hundreds of years old. You will visit the Communal House in Mong Phu hamlet which is dedicated to national heroes.
You will drive back to Hanoi and arrive at your hotel at around 5 pm.
